Healthy Beginnings, Supportive Communities, a Strong Future
In 2009, the Métis Centre of the National Aboriginal Health Organization (NAHO) met with Métis in different parts of Canada to share and collect stories, teachings, and information on maternal-child well-being. This DVD is the result of learnings from Métis midwives, health professionals, Elders, and parents. The objective of this project was to collect and share experiences, traditions, and health information for the benefit of Métis families.
Circles of Health: Sharing Our Gifts
In February, 2008, leaders and representatives from national Aboriginal organizations across the country gathered together in Ottawa for a historic meeting. They came from the Aboriginal sports, housing and education sectors, from tourism, economic organizations, and academia. They included Indigenous physicians and academic researchers, environmentalists, youth, and health policy-makers. They were Inuit, First Nations, and Métis. These varied voices participated in a forum at the invitation of the National Collaborating Centre for Aboriginal Health to explore how their work intersects in the health and well-being of all Aboriginal peoples in Canada.SKU: 5-V-542
