A Journey with Granny Willow: Traditional Teachings, Residential Schools, and Resiliency

November 18, 2025 @ 10:30 am. - 12:00 pm.

The Supporting Parents Webinar Series focuses on topics to help parents and caregivers learn how to create environments that help children thrive. These webinars can be used as part of parenting groups or can be used by parents and caregivers independently. Interactive activities are used to share strategies and tips to enhance capacity to raise healthy, safe, and happy children. A recording of the webinar content and activity instructions will be available after each event.

Join us for an inspiring session with Knowledge Keeper Granny Willow, a proud Métis woman, mother, and grandmother of Ojibwe, Lakota, and Cree descent. Guided by her cultural journey that began with a call to the drum through hoop dance, Granny Willow will share her story and the teachings she has gathered along the way. Through her experiences, participants will be invited to reflect on the important role that culture plays in shaping identity, connection, and well-being for both parents and children.

    About:

Granny Willow (Kelleen Blouin) is a proud Métis woman, mother, and grandmother of Ojibwe, Lakota, and Cree descent. She has been on her cultural path for the last 25 years after she was called to the drum with hoop dance. Through her work in classrooms, community gatherings, and schools, she has shared her teachings with thousands of students. Granny Willow’s journey has carried her deeply into traditional teachings, including the Medicine Wheel and Sacred Circle, drum teachings, cultural storytelling with puppets, and the work of Truth and Reconciliation.
