Cultivating a Safety Mindset: Supporting Caregivers to Nurture Child Development

This session will explore how to broaden the understanding of safety to include all areas of child development and well-being and how a safety mindset influences their capacity to support the well-being of families and children. During the presentation, Connie and Robyn will talk about the strategies and activities to engage children and caregivers.

About:

Robyn holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Saskatchewan, and recently completed her Bachelor of Social Work at the University of Regina. She joined the Saskatchewan Prevention Institute as the Child Injury Prevention Program Coordinator in 2021. Robyn brings a decade of experience providing family support services through a harm reduction lens in the Saskatoon area.

About:

Connie Herman has been the Nobody’s Perfect Parent Program Coordinator for Saskatchewan since 2008. In this role, she offers training, ongoing education, and support to service providers who work with parents and families. Connie believes that family-centred support, experiential learning, reliable information, and fun all play important roles in helping parents gain confidence and capacity to nurture healthy, positive relationships with their children.
