Injuries are the leading cause of childhood death and disability in Canada, and most of these injuries occur in the home. Fortunately, research shows that home safety support from a trusted professional can empower families to build safe spaces for their children and reduce the risk of a life-altering injury.
The Home Safety Workshop combines three professional development workshops. These workshops focus on home safety and injury prevention for children ages 0-5 years and aim to help professionals:
- Understand injury risks in the home and identify opportunities to improve safety
- Use harm reduction to support families living in a variety of situations
- Educate families on child safety using simple and engaging strategies
