Having a good grasp of the science of toxicology helps healthcare providers understand the research, know what to share, and how to say it. These first 3 modules provide a basis for understanding maternal and child environmental health issues, by introducing toxicology, and highlighting factors that influence toxicity, including individual susceptibility. This information lays the foundation for understanding developmental toxicology, which is introduced in module 3 and is covered in more detail in module 4.
The Prevention Institute plans to develop modules focusing on specific environmental exposures relevant to Saskatchewan families.
Each module includes a PowerPoint with voiceover, references, links to additional resources, and interactive quizzes. The quizzes allow the learner to conduct self-evaluation and the results are known only to the learner. Each module (including quiz) will take between 40 and 60 minutes to complete. Information about how to apply for CME Self-Learning Credits is provided. The modules are available to complete at no cost and will remain on the Prevention Institute’s website for the foreseeable future. We suggest you go through the modules in the order presented, as each module builds on the previous module.
