There is exciting news about the future of the child passenger safety curriculum in Canada. Over the past year in nation-wide meetings organized by Parachute, discussions have taken place to create a truly national curriculum. Transport Canada has agreed to work with the National Highway Safety Administration in the United States on adapting their child passenger safety curriculum into one that can be used in both countries. The actual curriculum should be completed by 2022. This is very exciting news, as the United States curriculum is very strong and has had long-standing success. How Canada will implement the training, move current technicians to the new system, re-certify technicians, etc., will still have to be worked out, but this is a great first step. Transport Canada is currently working on a statement about the creation of the new training. This will be shared as soon as it is released.
