Youth Service Provider Training
Are you or do you know of an exemplary youth service provider in your community who is passionate about youth health? The Saskatchewan Prevention Institute’s Youth Action for Prevention (YAP) Program offers adult ally trainings to youth service providers interested in learning new ways to relate to youth and approach conversations about realities and pressures young people face.
These trainings demonstrate strategies and exercises that can be useful when working with young people and touch on topics that are often seen as difficult to discuss or sensitive in nature. Topics covered include: healthy relationships, substance use, pressures youth face, sexual health and awareness, homophobia, and injury prevention. In addition to demonstrating exercises, we will discuss youth engagement; trauma-informed practice; how to create safe, non-judgemental spaces; how to responsibly run a discussion group and address concerns; as well as other questions that may arise.
The YAP Program is province-wide; meaning we will travel to communities around the province upon request, given availability.
