Bicycling is a great way for students to get around, enjoy the outdoors, and keep active. Despite its amazing benefits, injuries can and do occur. Join staff from the Saskatchewan Prevention Institute and Saskatchewan Health Authority Acquired Brain Injury Education & Prevention for a LIVE virtual presentation about bicycle and helmet safety. The session includes a 45-minute presentation followed by a 15-minute question and answer period. Topics covered during the presentation include:

• Why safety matters
• Your brain and the importance of protecting it
• Bike helmets
• Bike fit
• Rules of the road
• Arm signals

Students are strongly encouraged to bring their bicycle helmet to learn about proper fit through hands-on practice.

This interactive presentation is a great introduction to bicycle safety for young riders in Grades 1 to 5 that can be used in conjunction with a planned bike rodeo or as a stand-alone activity. It is FREE for all Saskatchewan classrooms. Presentations for Grade 1 to 3 classrooms will occur on May 12 and 13, 2026, with presentations for Grade 4 to 5 classrooms occurring on May 14, 2026.
