Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM): RISKS, PREVENTION, AND MANAGEMENT

In response to the rising rates of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in Saskatchewan, this webinar is aimed at raising awareness about GDM and educating health and allied health practitioners about the risks, prevention, and management of GDM.

This webinar will address important points such as:
  • The impact of GDM on the health of the mother and child
  • How to prevent GDM and reduce the its impact
  • The increasing rates of GDM among First Nations women in Saskatchewan and ways to work with these women to address their unique needs

Presenter

Dr. Jill Newstead-Angel MD FRCSC
About:

Dr. Newstead-Angel received her medical degree at the University of Saskatchewan and completed her Internal Medicine Residency in Saskatoon. She completed a clinical fellowship in Obstetric Medicine in Rhode Island, USA as part of her 2 year General Internal Medicine fellowship. Her area of expertise is in medical disorders in pregnancy with a special interest in Diabetes in Pregnancy. She is medical lead for the Diabetes and Pregnancy Program in Saskatoon. She also manages hypertension in pregnancy and works closely with other clinical professionals in Maternal Fetal Medicine.
