Dr. Athena McConnell
About:

Dr. McConnell obtained her medical degree from Queen’s University. She completed her pediatric residency here in Saskatoon, before going to the Alberta Children’s Hospital in Calgary for a fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases and a Master’s degree in medical education. She has been a member of the Department of Pediatrics since 2007, and is actively involved in clinical work, teaching, research and accreditation. In addition to providing care to many of the children with HIV in Saskatchewan, Dr. McConnell is involved with the Canadian Perinatal and Pediatric HIV/AIDS Research Group, which is a national organization committed to optimizing research, surveillance, clinical care, and prevention of pediatric HIV in Canada.
