Cases of syphilis are rising dramatically in Saskatchewan, including the first cases of congenital syphilis since 2014. Most infected individuals do not know they are infected as syphilis rarely causes any symptoms. Screening followed by appropriate treatment is therefore an important tool for reducing transmission. Innovative approaches to raise awareness and increase access to screening are necessary in order to connect those who are higher risk and harder to reach with information and care. In this webinar, Dr. Rosanna Peeling will explore innovative approaches and tools used for syphilis screening in diverse global communities, including screening during pregnancy. A Q&A session will follow the presentation, with an opportunity to brainstorm ways that these approaches can be applied in Saskatchewan.
